The great saints were celebrities in their towns, villages and cities in ancient times. The Buddha was celebrated by kings and honored in their courts. Swami Vivekananda, who brought yoga to the American public beginning in 1893 was the modern age’s first religious superstar. (We can count Gandhi, M.L. King & Mother Theresa in this queue, too.) A fascinating thing about yoga teachers becoming celebrities is that they are teachers! Teaching–the experience of education–is being celebrated as a public art. This is a great thing, and if yogis are to become luminaries alongside pro athletes and entertainers (who mostly salve life’s burden’s rather than pushing us toward a truer liberation) that speaks highly of the times we live in. Ava is advancing that process. Blessings and compliments on the work.
