As demand for Brazilian bikini wax wanes, enter the deals
Is the Brazilian bikini wax passe? According to a recent NY Times article, it’s a relic from the 90s: “As the 1990s brought a culture of excess, the once-shocking Brazilian became de rigueur for Manhattan women. It started to gain celebrity fans like Naomi Campbell, and it was featured as a central point in a 2000 “Sex and the City” episode.”
In a fight for relevance, or even the odd customer, two spas announced deals this morning for $25 Brazilians (the going rate is usually upwards of $50). Via Lifebooker you can book one at GC Salon and Spa and Groupon’s identical deal is available at the Skin Spa with locations in SoHo and Midtown. We guess this means that New York women rediscovered the razor during the Recession.
So, what is taking place of the Brazilian these days?! And I’m hereby pushing for more “lifelike” models on this website, although I love the shimmering skin of this one – my skin totally looks like that, too :)
Yes, this model literally slipped in. Point taken, noted, and waxed. Thanks, Mere.
