The Fall 2010 “It Bag”—for the gym
Whether you’re lounging at the beach, relaxing upstate, or simply working short hours in the city (fingers crossed), the week leading up to Labor Day is all about taking it easy. Come September 7th, Summer Fridays will be replaced with the Fall Scramble. So this week we bring you five labor-saving products and tips to make your fall a little less frantic.
Like an upgrade to business class, the high-performance Fast in Flight Bag will take you from the gym to work with a minimum of hassle. The new tote, which just landed in Lululemon stores, won us over with its subway-friendly sleekness and Container Store–style system of pockets:
The padded outer compartment holds and protects your 15-inch laptop (so owners of MacBook Pros are in luck).
Smaller outer pockets hold wallet, phones, and keys. Or passport and boarding pass. And inside you’ll find a wide enough base to put your sneakers or spinning shoes on the bottom.
Also brilliant—a hidden interior pocket that acts as a laundry basket, so soggy gym clothes can be tucked out of sight (and out of smell). Long handles can be flung over your shoulder, there’s also an adjustable shoulder strap. All the better for a quick boarding process—at the gym, the subway, or beyond. —Alexia Brue
Lululemon Fast In Flight Bag (available in black, gray, and purple), $98, www.shop.lululemon.com
I just got this bag in grey the other day and am loving it. I especially like that the handles go easily over my shoulder, so I have options for carrying the bag. And when I’m teaching and need to bring blocks, straps, lotion, etc, everything fits without me having to try and cram it in. There’s even an elastic strap inside, so you can put your rolled yoga mat in and it will stick out the top with the zipper zipped up to the edge of the mat. I haven’t tried carrying a mat in it yet, but it seems like a good idea..
can it fit spinning shoes and a pair of sneakers?
Hey–thanks for the recommendation. I love everything Lululemon, so not surprising they came up with the perfect gym bag. I especially love the idea of a special compartment for soggy gym clothes–no more looking around the gym for a plastic bag. I’m going to buy mine in purple!
Hi Sandy,
It can definitely fit both spinning shoes and sneakers no problem.
