The Standard Hotel unveils new yoga studios in the sky

Yoga at the Standard New YorkNow that Top of the Rock yoga has ended for the season, this is where we’ll be getting our sky-high yoga on.

The Standard Hotel is kicking off its yoga program with about two classes a day ($20), representing a variety of teachers and styles.

You check in for class at the hotel’s front desk, and bring your mat to one of several practice spaces (aka multipurpose venues with serious views): the High Line room, the 18th floor Relax Pool room, or the outdoor High Line Terrace and Roof Top Terrace (weather permitting), which has Hudson River views (and hopefully not Meatpacking District aromas).

Particularly intriguing-sounding is Dwight Garcia’s Urban Vinyasa classes that draw on martial arts, Duncan Wong-style. No matter which one you take, the asanas are sure to be more therapeutic than the posing at the Boom Boom Room.
