Two new New York City yoga studios

One thing New York City doesn’t want for in this economic slump? Yoga studios. And yet more are popping up all over town.

The Dharma Yoga Center, led by the legendary Dharma Mittra, opened a new west-side location at the end of 2010, and Yo Yoga!, debuted on the east side overlooking the Queensboro Bridge this week.

“Small businesses contribute to recovery, and we’re contributing in a way that is affordable and respects our students’ own financial situation,” say Rebecca and Kennedy Weible, Yo Yoga’s owners, who charge just $12 per 60-minute class. “We want yoga to be affordable and accessible, because we believe in the practice.”

Here are the quick and dirty details you’ll need for a trial trikonasana at these new New York yoga studios:

Yo Yoga!

Classes: About 90 percent open-level vinyasa, a few Power Yoga, and one candle-lit donation class per week
