Healthy ways to help Japan

Attend a Real Pilates Disaster Relief fund-raising class and receive a T-shirt with this specially-designed logo
Each day, the crisis in Japan seems to worsen. As we read the headlines from across the world, gasping at the endless string of disasters—from earthquake to tsunami to nuclear meltdown—the urge to do something is strong.
But what can you do here in New York City to help millions of people on an island in the Pacific?
We rounded up some healthy ways to lend a helping hand.
1. Naturopathica is donating $5 from every purchase of their natural beauty products this weekend to the Red Cross fund for relief in Japan.
2. Real Pilates is holding special Disaster Relief Fundraising Classes this Sunday at 5 pm (with owner Alycea Ungaro) and Wednesday at 7:30 pm (with Caitlin Goddard). $125 donation to the Red Cross per mat.
3. Juara Skincare will donate 10 percent of all online sales until April 15 to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund of the Japan Society in New York.
4. This Sunday only, Kula Yoga Project will donate 2o percent of all sales on class cards and merchandise to the Red Cross. If your class pack is set to expire soon or you’ve been meaning to grab a new pair of yoga pants, tomorrow is the day to follow through.
Of course, if you’re just too busy to spend time shopping or can’ t make it to these classes, you can always text REDCROSS to 90999 to automatically donate $10 from your phone.

BuddhaXtreme – a new power yoga and lifestyle brand based in New York City – and Earth Yoga NYC are joining forces to host a charity workshop benefitting emergency relief efforts in Japan!
The workshop will take place on Wednesday, March 23rd from 6:15 PM to 7:30 PM. This very special workshop has limited space available, so call 212-486-4111 or 917-532-2140 to reserve a spot.
The workshop has a donation-based entry (pay what you want).
Everyone is encouraged to come learn and experience the power Breakflow, while at the same time sending support and positive thoughts to Japan. Whether a yogi or not, everyone has an interest in supporting the Japanese relief efforts. The Breakflow, suitable for both the beginner and advanced yogi, has moves which can easily be incorporated into a yoga practice or fitness routine.
The Breakflow is a unique, easy-to-learn combination of Vinyasa yoga and breakdance that is integrated into a series of flowing movements focused on alignment, breath, and innovative transitional poses.
Several members of the BuddhaX team are from Japan and are very familiar with organizations which provide humanitarian aid and emergency relief. They wanted to ensure the chosen organization is one that would use the money 100% for relief efforts that directly benefit the people of Japan. Thus, BuddhaXtreme and Earth Yoga NYC will be donating all funds received from the workshop to the International Rescue Committee.
Physique 57 is doing a workshop for Japan on Sat. at their Soho studio. All proceeds go to disaster relief.
