Fill your April calendar with these healthy free events
Spring has sprung, and if you’re anything like us, you’re probably a bit more willing to drag yourself from the couch now that the temps are warmer (and bikini season is on the horizon). Fortunately, April happens to be chock-full of great fitness offerings all over this fair city of ours, and these six or so? They’re free!
Saturday, April 2
Always wanted to try IntenSati? Now’s your shot. On four Saturdays in April (except for April 23), the JCC will offer free IntenSati classes as part of its Take A Chance Series. Wednesday, April 6
On hump days from April through October, inline skaters get together in Union Square for two-hours of group street skating—and this is the 2011 kick-off night! It’s free to skate with the group, but you’ve got to supply your own equipment and helmets are required. Friday, April 22
Once a month, Dance Manhattan hosts a free class, followed by a dance party. They don’t advertise the exact style of dance or the instructor ahead of time, but we’re told students can usually expect 30 minutes of slow ballroom-type instruction, followed by 30 minutes of faster dance. Saturday, April 30
Okay, so it’s not exactly a calorie crusher, but the Brooklyn Bird Club is offering a free field walk on Pier 1, just in time to check out spring’s returning species with guides who know what to look out for.
