Nona Varnado’s catwalk-worthy spin clothes
Nona Varnado, the Brooklyn fashion designer leading the peloton in cycling style, just launched her first collection solely for spin class. And the result is get-outta-your-saddle stylish.
Until now, capri-length luon coupled with a colorful tank (or SoulCycle’s standard issue apparel) is the uniform of choice at spin studios like Flywheel and SoulCycle. Yawn.
Varnado’s new performance-meets-fashion collection is poised to shake up current indoor cycling fashion monotony.
Made from spandex/lycra blends, her tush-flattering shorts and restaurant-worthy tops are lightweight. (How cute would this top, at right, be with white slacks? Before a sweaty spin class, that is.)
Many of the tops, like this canary yellow one, at left, incorporate breathable mesh. There’s just a hint of skin underneath the midriff panel, and the princess neck lends a regal air to the flamboyant color.
If Audrey Hepburn had ever hopped on a bike for “Breakfast at SoulCycle,” she would have worn this.
The collection is still being priced. Visit Varnado’s website to purchase and you’ll definitely be the first first in class wearing her smoking cycling threads. —Alexia Brue
