Spring Street Natural heads Uptown. Finally.
Long before New Yorkers were seized with a need for organic, there was Spring Street Natural.
This sprawling Soho-meets-Nolita landmark from Rustam Schoenholt, which has been churning out healthy grub since 1985 (its original location opened in 1973), is finally ready for a second outpost.
According to the restaurant, in just a few days Spring Street Natural’s much anticipated (and smaller) Upper West Side location will open at 474 Columbus Avenue, between 82nd and 83rd Streets.
While the menu of made-to-order vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes will be similar to that of its sibling (we’re putting in an order for the scrambled tofu and almond-veggie burger, please!), Spring Street says New Yorkers can look forward to some new offerings.
Given that the healthy spot’s had almost 40 years to plan for this moment, we expect the menu will be well-thought out. —Alia Akkam
