Equinox trainers want to be your nutritionists, too
After advising you on proper push-up form and pushing you through what feels like a million burpees, your Equinox trainer may also soon offer advice on what to cook for dinner.
That’s a break from convention—and profession, since trainers have been taught to keep mum about what you’re putting in your mouth and stick to the output of your muscles.
But now, in addition to their many fitness certifications, Equinox’s top-level trainers (Tier 4) are required to complete a nutrition certification program.
Think of it as another form of cross-training.
The program, called Precision Nutrition, was created specifically for fitness professionals. Your trainer won’t be a Registered Dietician at the end, but he or she will know something about digestion, metabolism, and, hopefully, what you should be eating to maximize the effectiveness of your workout routine.
And good news: Equinox has not raised rates for these top-tier trainers as of yet, which means for the time being you’re getting a little more bang for your buck.
What do you think? Should personal trainers have nutrition training or should they leave it to the nutritionists?

I think this is a great idea, since nutrition and fitness go hand in hand to well being. It is important to eat the right foods to fuel your workout and yield the weight loss results desired, so having someone who is aware of both and coaching you about both topics will mean better results in my opinion
