Enter to win a Figure 4 party from Pure Yoga

The contest winner gets to a private Figure 4 class hosted by creator Kate Albarelli or one of her disciples

You’ve no doubt heard all about sweat-working. (For the uninitiated, sweat-working is the of-the-moment practice of working out with business contacts and colleagues). Then, there’s the after-hours version of the double duty workout: nightlife fitness where an evening workout segues into a dance party or drinks.
This tantalizing contest combines both of these hot fitness trends. You could win a private Figure 4 class for you and up to 20 friends!!
Figure 4 is Pure Yoga’s signature barre workout created by ballerina and fitness guru Kate Albarelli. While it’s certainly informed by classic dance, Figure 4 also draws on Pilates, yoga, and free weights and can be done by ballet-school drop-outs no problem. Yes, it will tone and lengthen your body like a dancer’s but you don’t have to know what a grand jete is to participate.
Enter to win a private Figure 4 party by telling us in the Comments Section below why you like to workout with friends.
And if you really want to win this prize, tell your friends to enter too (presumably they’ll invite you to their Figure 4 party should they win!). And spread the love via Facebook and Twitter.
Contest ends Tuesday at 5:00 and we’ll announce the winner that evening. Good luck!

Working out with friends is great on so many levels. It helps motivate me especially on days when I really don’t want to workout. Also, given my very hectic work schedule it allows me to spend quality time with my friends while incorporating a workout session. Win-Win for us all!!!
I like to work out with friends because as a full-time working mother of two, my “free” time is very limited. If i can get a good workout AND see my friends, it’s a win-win situation. And then, brunch. :)
Working out with friends is the healthiest way to socialize! You spend quality time with people you care about, while motivating each other to continue to practice a healthy lifestyle. Great stress release and ego-boost for everyone!
99.9 percent of my friends haven’t yet experienced how challenging and invigorating Figure 4 is. I have, just once, but wish they knew. It’d be a great way to introduce a group of people who like working out, but don’t typically get the chance to test new waters (NYC fitness classes are expensive!) on their own time.
Working out with friends always makes class more enjoyable and fun. If I am struggling with an exercise and look over and see my friend doing it, it motivates me to try harder. If I know my friend is coming to class, it always gets me there because it becomes a fun social activity.
Working out with friends rocks! Whatever you are doing becomes 100 times easier and more fun! Plus, you feel more comfortable and less self-conscious since your surrounded by friends!
Working out with friends keeps you committed to the time and energy you put into exercise. You’re motivated to keep your energy levels high as much for yourself as you are to help energize your friends. And a good friend will do the same for you. Plus, the juice/brunch/dinner date that follows is always a good time.
I like working out with friends because it challenges you to do your best and encourage each other to push a little further and commiserate during a tough sequence. It’s accountability to make sure you get your workout in, healthy competition and support to do your best, and a social activity, all in one. Plus, afterwards you have someone to get brunch or drinks with, and someone to compare where you’re most sore the next day!
It’s easier to stay motivated when other people are involved!
I love working out with my friend Alexa cause she motivates me to show up every time and we have another awesome memory to add to our friendship besides just going out and drinking! haha
Working out with friends helps the time fly no matter how hard the workout! And you get to catch up during it/after it! It’s a two-for-one deal!
Ohhhh love this! Working out with friends is the best way to catch up. I feel much better after 90 minutes of running with a friend than I do after 90 minutes of boozing. It’s healthier and more fun!
I love to see my friends – thus I love to work out with them, because it combines two favorite things! With the always busy hectic NY lives, fitting in workouts together gives us just one more time to see each other; push each other; sweat together & share together. I also love the motivation my friends bring (and hopefully I give to them) when we workout, whether encouraging each other in future races or events, or just simply listening and talking about different training and work-out strategies. And then dessert, brunch or hot chocolate is a great reward after and you’re already together!
This year, I’ve made it my goal to stop doing solo workouts and start involving my friends. We’re all working out anyway, so why not do it together? My old friends are loving the change – it frees up time for us to workout together instead of having to squeeze a workout in before meeting up at a bar/restaurant – and it jazzes us up before we hit the town. Meanwhile, I’ve made a ton of new friends through the NYC fitness blog scene, and workouts with a fun event after have proven to be a great way for us to meet up and get to know each other while sharing our passion for a healthy lifestyle.
I haven’t tried Figure 4 yet, but it sounds like a great way to lengthen our muscles and get lean. Plus, who doesn’t love burning some extra calories before a night out? I would love to try this with my girlfriends!
At the moment my workout partner is my mother. I have been trying for about 2 months to get 2 of my friends to join us in our “Healthy & Natural Journey” Working out with friends not only supplies motivation, it also provides support. There may be days when I might not want to exercise and just eat a nice reese’s sunday (delicious), I can just think about what we are trying to do and give them a call for help. Working out with friends also makes the time when working out go by faster. My best friend does not like to run, but when we run together it seems fun.
Working out with a friend is the only way to stick to it for me=flaker.
Knowing that I have to meet someone, somewhere is the only motivation that I can stick with to get me out the door.
Unfortunately I don’t have someone like that currently so getting out the door has been hard :(
I love working out with friends because it makes working out so much more fun! Even if you’re not talking to each other the whole time, it’s nice to have someone nearby that can motivate you and keep you accountable.
I am obsessed with barre classes, and have been recommending classes to my friends for months but the cost always scares them away. I’m sure with one friend-filled class I can get a few hooked!!!
My favorite way to work out! Friends motivate and inspire you to work harder than I would on my own. It keeps me accountable – it’s hard to skip a workout if someone is expecting me to be there. Kills 2 birds with one stone – we can catch up and do something great for ourselves at the same time. And there’s definitely something to be said for a little healthy competiton :)
Its a healthy way to enjoy each others company and help each other meet personal fitness goals!
I have recently made some huge changes in my life and would love to do this with my friends. I love working out with friends and it would be a great way for my new healthy friends and I to hang out.
I love working out with my friends because I love having a buddy system. We inspire and push each other. Also, it is more fun to work out with friends. I love doing group activities. It keeps it from being dull and boring. :)

Its a great way to be with friends and to catch up. I’m a very busy gal around town so when I have the chance…I like to grab my friends as we motivate each other through physical fitness!
because i am more fit than them

Working out with friends is great because it kills two birds with one stone: gym time and socializing (before and after, not during, obviously). We New Yorkers are always looking to multi-task! I also think it can make you more comfortable and a little less self-conscious when there’s a familiar face in the class.
