No one likes Stella McCartney’s British Olympic team uniforms. Do you?

Stella McCartney debuted her designs for the British Olympic team’s uniforms last week, to a flurry of negative reactions, including athletes tweeting their disappointment (and wondering where all of the red was).

McCartney said her design was meant to be a contemporary take on the British flag. ”Something that was very important to me was to try and use that very iconic image but to dismantle it and try to soften it, break it down and make it more fashionable in a sense,” she told the BBC.

Frankly, we think she did a pretty bang-up job on such an enormous and difficult project. (New York Magazine reported the project includes “175,000 items of clothing and 38 types of footwear for the nearly 500 Olympic and 350 Paralympic competitors.”)

Let’s face it: Olympic uniforms are not exactly the greatest canvas for fashion-forward design, especially since function has to come first, no matter what.

What do you think? Do you like Stella McCartney’s Olympic uniforms?
