Recipe: The Spring Fling Smoothie
What goes with your new spring sandals and sleeveless frock?
This strawberry chocolate “milkshake.”
It’s actually dairy-free, but oh so icy-creamy. And like the extra dose of vitamin D you’re getting today, it’s also good for you.
How? Think organic strawberries, which are bursting with anti-inflammatory benefits and flush with fiber. They’re also a low-glycemic fruit. (You can freeze a pint in Tupperware, or buy them frozen.)
But the star ingredient is superfood cacao—the good-for-you basis of all chocolate (before companies go and dilute it with refined sugar, dairy, and chemicals—ugh!).
Antioxidants are preserved in raw cacao powder, but not in the processed versions. Sorry Hershey’s! And recently cacao’s been cited as a waistline-slimmer because of possible metabolism-boosting properties.
So you can feel good knowing this delectable, filling smoothie that sounds decadent (and kinda is) is also actually great for you. BYO striped straw. —Jennifer Kass
Spring Fling Smoothie Recipe
1 cup organic frozen strawberries
1 cup coconut milk
1 Tbs raw cacao powder
1 Tbs raw honey
1 Tbs goji berries for extra zing, if desired
Blend together and enjoy!

Also you could try coconut water!
I’ll have to give this one a try. It seems like chocolate-flavored smoothies just never taste right to me. Vanilla always seems to work better… though I suppose substituting some vanilla for the cacao would taste great too, even if it is a little less healthy.
Hmmm, a little basil added to this could be delicious as well, since it goes great with both strawberries and chocolate. MMmmmmmmm….
