Openings: New York City’s latest fitness and healthy food (April 2012)

New York City’s fitness and wellness scene is moving faster than the blades of a Vitamix blender. Here, at a glance, are the big-deal city openings and announcements we reported in April.

GOOD SWEAT

SLT announced its launch of SLT Yoga on May 1, Om Factory opened an off-the-ground specific studio in the Flatiron for AntiGravity and AcroYoga, and family-and-friend run studio, House of Jai, opened on the Upper East Side.

Barry’s Bootcamp announced two new locations—Tribeca, opening in the fall, and Wainscott, in the Hamptons, opening this May.

Both Refine Method Union Square and online studio Dirty Yoga officially opened on April 30.

Online fitness booking site GoRecess opened for business on April 27.

GOOD FOOD

Eataly opened an expanded cooking school with a focus on veggie-centric Meatless Monday courses.

The Rouge Tomate food cart rolled into Central Park for the season, with a brand-new seasonal, nutrition-focused menu.

One Lucky Duck moved into a new production space in Williamsburg, creating space for new products and faster service at Pure Food & Wine.
