Trend alert: Would you wear fitness flats?
Wearing flats around the city can feel almost like walking around barefoot—and not in the lightweight-running shoe, back-to-nature kind of way.
Your feet end up sore, your joints jostled. Not to mention the blisters that often form from not wearing socks.
One solution: Puma’s new Lily Ballet Flat ($74.95 at Nordstrom).
The shoe is one option in a growing category of fitness flats. Athletic companies, like Adidas by Stella McCartney, and Nike (with totally gorgeous and cushy gladiator sandals) are drawing on the in-studio footwear concept introduced by Blake Brody and taking it one step further—onto the sidewalk outside.
So, not only does the nautical-inspired Puma Lily Ballet look super cute with your yoga pants, it’s also cushion-y and supportive, since it’s made by sneaker-minded designers.
One downside: Puma’s flats are so sneaker-like in appearance, they probably won’t transition well to dinner.

The Puma ones don’t appeal to me but the Nike ones you linked to are ridiculously cute and I would rock the hell out of those! In general though I think there are some really cute middle ground options out there and it is a trend I fully support…
I think they’re really cute. The Stella shoes for Adidas are *hideous*, but the Nike line has some cute ones. I would love to get some of these Puma flats… but $75?
Yeah – that’s not going to happen.
If I were going to spend that much on a pair of ballet flats – I’d get Tom’s every time. At least I know that $ is going to help someone else as well.
I had some stella for adidas fitness flats a few years ago that were gorgeous, with really nice pleating across the toe, in her signature lily grey. I wish those would come back! Big, big fan of fitness flats.
I think the red ones are super cute :) x
