Couldn't agree with this more! People seem to over react over a piece of pie or a cake. When it comes down to it- one bad thing is not going to kill your fitness regimen for the week. The key is moderation and staying active and if you do these 2 things an occasional dessert or unhealthy food choice will not make you fat!

Great post - I so resonate with your message. At The Institute for the Psychology of Eating we teach similar strategies and it's so nice to see other people out there spreading new approaches to health and wellness. Thank you!

Jeanette is absolutely correct!I am a health coach for Body and Soul Health Coach and many of my clients beat themselves up when they are"bad".In fact feeling like they "fell off the wagon" only gives them the excuse to continue eating poorly. In my practice there is no bad-there is only better. A good rule of thumb is to try to eat clean 80% of the time. Note-that leaves 20% of the time for you to indulge yourself a little. Great site ladies!

I totally agree with this. I battled eating guilt for years. It wasn't until I allowed myself to take pleasure in supposedly bad for you foods (like high-quality restaurant meals that include meat and cheese, and craft beers) that I started losing weight--10 pounds--without any effort. I think it's because I stopped denying myself and instead developed a healthy relationship with food!

Jeanette is so wise. She really taught me on a deep level what it means to use food as nourishment, for body and soul. It should be obvious that food is nourishment, but somehow, in our never slow down world, it is not.
