How to celebrate National Running Day in New York

National Running Day

You may have to dodge lots of pavement-pounders on the city streets today, as they lace up their sneakers and get out to celebrate National Running Day (Wednesday, June 6).

Or, you could join them. (Okay, it’s not exactly the Fourth of July, but it’s an excuse to declare your love of all-things-running, shin splints not included).

In honor of the day, there are group runs happening all over—from East River Park to the Upper West Side—and some include perks like refreshments and Foot Locker discounts. Pure Yoga is even hosting a free Yoga for Runners class tonight.

If you’re feeling super-energized (and you’re reading this before dawn), head to Central Park at 7:00 a.m., where you can try to catch Desiree Davila, a member of the 2012 US Olympic team, and famed ultramarathoner Scott Jurek, as they lap the Reservoir.
