Barry’s Bootcamp Tribeca: A first workout report

1 / 11
BB1Barry's Bootcamp opened its second Manhattan location earlier this month in Tribeca.

We caught up with Joey Gonzalez, Barry's COO and star trainer, for a workout and tour of his tricked-out new space.

The airy, light-flooded studio on Sixth Avenue and York Street has a wall of windows fronting onto Sixth Avenue. Regulars at the studio's Chelsea location will notice some serious upgrades, namely a spacious reception area and Fuel Bar, and larger locker rooms with monster-big lockers.

As for Barry's next move, Gonzalez says he's already scouting locations on the Upper East Side. Take our tour of the Tribeca studio—and here's a head's up: You can join us for an exclusive Well+Good Reader Event at Barry's Tribeca on November 8. Tickets go on sale next week!

BB2We love the fresh flowers at the sleek check-in desk and how light pours into the space.

BB3"Welcome to class."

BB7The studio holds 40 people—so the same number as Chelsea—but it feels more spacious. That's because the ceilings are much higher here. And Barry's takes advantage of the exposed steel beams by slinging resistance bands over them, so they can be used in class.

BB8The Fuel Bar will whip up a "Not Your Average Joe" or a "PB & J" while you're in class so you can grab it and dash.

BB9There's room for a whole lotta retail in the new location. Barry's Bootcamp has partnered with Splits 59 for branded apparel.
