Le Palais des Thés gives New York something to sip on

Les Palais de Thes

New Yorkers are about to get a taste of a new French import—and it’s not croissants, cheese, or wine. It’s tea.

Paris-based tea purveyor Le Palais des Thés will open its first shop in the United States tomorrow, November 15, on the Upper West Side. And a second location will follow shortly, on Prince Street in Soho.

“Many of our online customers are based in New York City, and many New Yorkers visit us regularly at our five boutiques in Paris, as well as at our stores in Dublin and in Tel Aviv. So it made sense to open our first boutique here,” says Aurélie Bessière, who is heading up the New York locations with her husband, Cy.

The Columbus Avenue boutique will feature a tea wall with 83 loose leaf varieties and “custom-made tea display units with scent testers.” Other walls will be adorned with photos of the far-flung locations the teas are sourced from, taken by Le Palais des Thés founder Francois-Xavier Delmas.

You’ll also be greeted with a free cup of tea to sip while browsing. Just don’t BYO macarons.
