Free People quietly launches a yoga collection that could be a really big deal
Beloved boho-clothing brand Free People has officially rolled out a line of clothing for yoga.
Called FP Movement, the collection quietly debuted this summer, its 20 or so hippie-chic pieces blending in among the racks of intimates, and new ones were added this fall. It’s almost as if the mega brand is tip-toeing into the yoga fashion scene. But it needn’t.
With design elements such as ruffles and ties, tie-dye and contrast stitching, the yoga collection seems of a piece of Free People and its signature looks, which chic shoppers can’t get enough of.
“The functionality of yoga apparel meets the feminine, cool, and casual style of the Free People brand,” says Free People fashion director Kristal Hill. “I imagine our girl mixing her FP Movement yoga wear with her Free People graphics and prints.” (So do we.)
And the cute pieces are more functional than you might think: Several, like the Tie Dye Workout Tank ($68, pictured) and Tie Dye Sports Bra ($48), are designed in collaboration with Solow. They’re made with Eclon, a performance fabric that’s also eco-friendly.
The line looks to grow in 2013 with crop top and short sets, yoga bags, and more, hitting stores in February. And should word get out, we predict it will have stylish yogis waiting in a receptive pose with their credit cards. —Jamie McKillop
