Farm-to-office: A CSA that delivers to your desk
You’ve heard of Ping Pong tables and exercise balls-as-chairs in progressive office environments. But how about farm-fresh produce delivered to your desk?
Katchkie Farm, the upstate farm that’s owned by NYC catering juggernaut Great Performances and is responsible for the Katchkie Truck, just launched sign-ups for its Workplace CSA, a program that allows employees to band together to get farm-to-office service.
The CSA, which is in its third year, has been embraced by offices like Teach for America and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in the past. It requires a minimum of 20 employees per office to operate, and the 22-week season begins on June 11. You can sign up for the summer for $580, or get an 11-week half-share for $290.
And it won’t just make your lunchtime salad run easier. Says Great Performances CEO Liz Neumark, “The employers benefit, too: a healthier employee is a happier one.” We’d have to agree. —Lisa Elaine Held
