Aries (March 21–April 19)
May is all about money with so much activity in your solar 2nd house. The epic solar eclipse on the 10th may have you overindulging in your ruler Mars’s love for masculine food like red meat. This month try to add more vegetables into your diet and embrace the beauty and grace of Venus with a barre burn class taught by fellow Aries Shay Kostabi at Flywheel Sports.
Taurus (April 20–May 20)
Many will mistake you for being an Aries this month with so much 1st house activity—own it! Time for you show the world that your ruler, Venus, is not only money and “my stuff.” It is a not so subtle reminder that beauty and control of the body is power. The 1st house represents the physical body, and the Eclipse on the 10th is a starting point for you to get into the best shape of your life. For inspiration just look at handsome and fit Equinox trainer/instructor Frank Salzone, an Aries with a Taurus rising.
Gemini (May 21–June 21)
These are challenging and confusing times, with so much planetary energy happening in the house of seclusion and sadness, your solar 12th house. As cliched as it may sound, you are not alone. There is power in the stillness and the quiet. Your ruler Mercury loves to move and talk incessantly. The eclipse on the 10th is inviting you to heal yourself with restorative yoga. Time to be quiet and respect time.
Cancer (June 22–July 21)
The Zodiac’s 11th house governs group activity. And with that house being high land this month for you, without question it would serve you well not do it alone. May is all about group fitness, with the likes of fellow Cancers Joe Buffa at Barry’s Bootcamp or SoulCycle’s Melanie Griffith.
Leo (July 22–August 22)
There are nasty Mars-Saturn aspects all this month, along with a fierce eclipse on the 10th in your career house, that will have you seeing red. Mars and Saturn are both ego driven energy planets. However, Mars is the petulant child who wanted it yesterday, and Saturn is the wise adult who understands…all in due time. Patience, please, and channel your anger with tai chi and an intense spin class at Flywheel with fellow fiery Leo, Marion Roman Weil.
Virgo (August 23–September 21)
Reaching a higher state of consciousness is where you want to go this month. Try not to manifest that as ethereal lethargy, but pure athletic prowess with Virgo Kristi Molinaro’s intense 30/60/90 class at Equinox. With Mercury as your ruler, too many times you get lost in an endless library of self-help books. With the centaur 9th house so active for you this month, it is abundantly clear, action always speaks louder than words.
Libra (September 22–October 22)
Although the energy of the old adage “you must break the egg to make the omelette” is not your style, May demands that you forsake your need to be a people-pleaser and for you to dive into the intense Scorpio waters of your solar 8th house. Mars in your solar 8th house, along with ugly confrontations from the eclipse on the 10th, is inviting you to power lift or power yoga. Claim your power, for it is never given. This month is all about finding the upside to anger, going beyond your level of comfort (safely), and channeling your power to a positive serene place.
Scorpio (October 23–November 22)
In a word: relationships. If Libra is wearing your hat this month, than you must wear Libra’s. Decorum, diplomacy, and tact is the name of the game all month. Instead of hiding in the back row of fellow Scorpio’s Darbi Worley’s IntenSati at Equinox, move up front, smile, and make friends. If you are single, it very well could be the beginning of an affair to remember.
Sagittarius (November 23–December 21)
Not to induce paranoia, but with so much energy in your 6th house (the area of your chart that governs health and wellness), it would be wise to make sure you’ve had a recent check up with the doctor. The eclipse on the 10th is a good day to start eating better and not over do it with desserts and alcohol. Your ruler is Jupiter (thighs to thunder, if not cautious), and you can easily overreach and dismiss the numbers on the scale. Don’t.
Capricorn (December 21–January 20)
You goats come into this life with such “age” and wisdom that life can be and endless cycle of disappointments prior to mid life. May is screaming at you to reclaim the lightness of youth and have fun. Saturn, your ruler, and the Sun are not friends. However May has you shinning with all that energy in your Leo-like solar 5th house. You are a kid again. Now go find your place in the Sun! Tennis, volleyball, or a class with a fun Capricorn, Flywheel’s Tevia Celi Recht, is essential this month.
Aquarius (January 21–February 18)
Like your opposite sign Leo, this month is far from a triple crown win. So be it. Please be aware that respecting restrictions does not mean to capitulate. Get busy—very busy even—with so much difficult energy in your ultra sensitive solar 4th house, the house of the home. If you can’t make it to the gym, push-ups and lifting your own body weight at home and/or private yoga lessons at home will be tremendously helpful and effective.
Pisces (February 19–March 10)
Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is ignorance. Neptune, your ruler, can be quite nebulous, and so many times gives you license to play dumb. However, May is a very cerebral, smart month for you. This is a time to put on your thinking cap and with so much solar 3rd house (the lungs) energy, a swim cap.
