FITNESS AND YOGA

Yoga celeb Hilaria Baldwin announced the release of her first DVD, Fit Mommy-to-Be Prenatal Yoga, which will debut on October 1. Baldwin recently gave birth to her first child with hubby Alec.

Crunch is launching a new chain of Crunch Essential gyms, which will be more bare-bones and cheaper than its regular clubs (as little as $10). The first two are projected to open in Crown Heights and Bushwick this fall.

A newer mud race that includes a CrossFit-inspired fitness challenge before you hit the course, the Civilian Military Combine, is taking over Brooklyn’s Aviator Sports Complex on September 14. CrossFit boxes from around the city will be participating as teams.

Irreverent online yoga company Dirty Yoga debuted a yoga program for beginners called Prep that includes introductory lessons on poses, and more.

SoulCycle announced it will open its fourth LA studio, Soul Beverly Hills, on Monday, September 16.

Prospect Park installed special new water bottle fill stations on its water fountains, for thirsty Brooklyn runners.

More than 15 new fitness spots are slated to open in New York City this fall; that’s more than double the number of workout venues that debuted this time last year.

FOOD AND JUICE

Popular Greenwich Village juice bar and cafe Melvin’s Juice Box revealed that it will be opening a second location in the Dream Downtown this fall.

West Coast brand Pressed Juicery launched a subscription service that allows sippers to order 12-60 juices per month for delivery.

BEAUTY NEWS

Rachel Zoe’s blowout salon DreamDry opened its second New York location on 57th Street near Columbus Circle on Friday, September 6.

HAPPENINGS

Flatiron boutique gym Peak Performance is hosting L-Boogie Club on Saturday, September 7 at 4:30 p.m. The competitive workout event is a collaboration between SIN Workouts and trainer L Boogie and will include a DJ, on-site massage demos, and more. (Email [email protected] to sign up.)

Les Dames d’Escoffier New York is hosting a panel on women’s health called Women and Wellness: Be Fabulous at Any Age on Wednesday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Amali. The panel will address topics such as nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction.

Fitness expo Sweat AC is returning to Atlantic City from September 21–22, with a packed weekend of classes and demos with celebrity trainers like Jillian Michaels, Shaun T, Denise Warren, and more.
