Recipe: The 2014 Cleansing Sweet Green Smoothie

If there’s one thing that smart, healthy women are over, it’s the whole new-year-new-you hullabaloo. New Year’s resolutions tend to be so over-the-top (“I’ll never go on Facebook again!” or “I’m gonna get Michelle Obama arms in two weeks flat!”), they’re just a recipe for disappointment.

But there is value in hitting the restart button by honoring that awesome body of yours, which just rocked its way through another year.

Enter this invigorating sweet green blend, packed with alkalizing kale and spinach (which help regulate pH) and pineapple (which provides plenty of digestive enzymes and vitamin C…not to mention just the right amount of sweetness).

Spicy ginger warms the body and improves circulation, while spirulina helps zap winter blues, thanks to its mega-dose of mood-boosting chlorophyll. The Sweet Green Cleanse Smoothie

2 to 3 kale leaves
1 handful spinach
1 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 lemon
1/2 cucumber
1 inch of fresh ginger
1 tsp spirulina
1 cup coconut water

Blend and enjoy!
