Healthy Valentine’s Day: Fitness edition

Screen Shot 2014-02-10 at 9.51.55 PMValentine’s Day means long-stem roses and fine dining to some, but increasingly among fitness-obsessed New Yorkers (guilty!), the holiday’s about indoor cycling, yoga, and boot camp—together.

While the workouts aren’t romantic per se, the sentiment is: You and your guy get closer and sweaty while surviving cardio hills and boot camp lunges—and solidify that you love each other without hair and makeup.

“SoulCycle has become the perfect date night for our riders,” SoulCycle’s PR and brand development director Gabby Cohen says. “It’s a fun and healthy alternative to dinner and drinks and is a fantastic way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.”

And that doesn’t mean singles can’t get in a good workout that day, which is really preferred to nursing negative thoughts or eating dinner on the couch to Love, Actually (plus, the class can’t be all couples, wink wink).

SoulCycle: The indoor-cycling brand will be celebrating “Soulmates” on February 14, with a Soul Kiss Cam. It’s basically a giant frame that you can pose behind for printed SoulCycle Polaroids before and after class. Aw! Not in NYC? You can still catch the love bug and bring a date to select SoulCycle classes for free. New York City area SoulCycle locations, February 14, $34 per class

Lyons Den Power Yoga: The newly-opened hot Tribeca yoga studio is hosting all-day Valentine’s perks in in its Power Vinyasa classes, starting with Lulitonix love juices (7:00 a.m.), bring a friend for free classes (8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m.), a love song playlist class (1:30 p.m.), happy hour with strawberries, champagne, and Lulitonix cocktails (5:00 p.m.), and a rock love song playlist class (6:30 p.m.). 279 Church Street, Floor 3, February 14, $24 per class

Trooper Fitness: Founder and star New York Sports Club trainer Prince Brathwaite adds a touch of sweetness to his intense, all-in bootcamp workout with a “sweatmate” class where you and your partner will work together in partner-assisted drills. 305 Fitness: No date? No problem! The dance cardio class inspired by the Miami-dance-club scene wants you to come get happy at its sweaty dance party, set to the soundtrack of a live DJ. Plus you get Valentine Lounge access, which includes Glam & Glo Blowouts, a Rouge Lash Bar, Mio Workout Wonder Station, healthy treats, and more. 37 W. 26th St., Floor 9, February 14, 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., $35 per class

Barry’s Bootcamp: Not feeling the love? Look no further than Barry’s Bootcamp in Chelsea, where Barry Jay himself will host a dance party, or “love rehab,” featuring a live DJ exclusively spinning popular anti-love anthems like Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” Cee-Lo Green’s “F*ck You!,” and pretty much anything by Pink. 135 W. 20th St., February 15, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., $34 per class

Swerve Fitness: Classes at this new team-based cycling studio will come with a free glass of champagne or a Valentine’s Day smoothie, and you can book in-studio Vive blowouts if you’re headed out on the town after. Maybe a Paleo dinner with a member of your team? 30 W. 18th St., February 14, all day, $30 per class
