4 new healthy eateries open in New York City

Maimonide of Brooklyn (M.O.B.)

French restaurateur Cyril Aouizerate has a taste for the eclectic.

His first Brooklyn space, opened just a month ago, is “an homage to 90s hip-hop culture, Brooklyn, and the healthy-living beliefs of the famous Jewish philosopher Maimonides.” (AKA hipster heaven.)

Designed with executive chef Neal Harden (formerly of Pure Food and Wine), the menu is described as “avant-garde vegetarian food for carnivores.”

Expect communal tables, complimentary baked kale chips (a genius bread and butter substitute!), and open-faced sandwiches that are served on plates shaped like the Brooklyn Bridge.

525 Atlantic Ave. (btwn Third and Fourth Aves.), Boerum Hill, www.mob-usa.com
