Beach volleyball spikes New Yorkers’ interest [slideshow]

Adding to the already robust roster of outdoor summer sports in the city is beach volleyball—yes, in the middle of New York City.

Two sand-filled beach volleyball courts opened earlier this summer on Pier 25 in Tribeca and at Pier 6, at the newly rehabbed Brooklyn Bridge Park.

And it turns out, a huge number of New Yorkers are spending their evenings serving and diving in the sand.
